Recording
In addition to the birthday celebration concerts and the 2007 European and Far East tour, Trevor Pinnock and the EBE have created a historic new recording of the Brandenburg Concertos. This recording was made in Sheffield City Hall’s ballroom during December and January, and the classical world is waiting in great anticipation for the CD due to be released by Avie Records in 2007.
The recording was made possible by an extraordinary amount of support from Sheffield City Hall and a number of South Yorkshire businesses, as well as the local council.
For many people, outside the realms of the typical classical enthusiast, the Brandenburgs became familiar in the 1980s when Pinnock made his first recording of this epic work with the English Concert. That recording became one of the best selling classical albums of the twentieth century. This latest interpretation promises to be equally popular.
Special thanks to Sheffield City Hall, Sheffield City Council, British Land, The University of Sheffield, and Wolf Safety Lamp.
