Katharina Spreckelsen - Biography
Katharina Spreckelsen was born in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. After studying medicine for two years at Göttingen University, she began her professional music career, studying first with Michel Piguet at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and then with Paul Goodwin at the Royal College of Music in London. She is principal oboist for The English Concert, the Gabrieli Players and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and has toured and recorded as guest principal oboist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
As a concerto soloist Katharina has played with numerous orchestras in the UK and abroad.
Katharina has recorded extensively. Her solo recordings include arrangements of the Bach Organ Trio Sonatas with The King’s Consort for Hyperion and Vivaldi Chamber Concertos with Florilegium for Channel Classics.
She is Professor of Baroque and Classical Oboe at the Royal Academy of Music in London. |
